SCAD seeks an access services librarian to ensure Jen Library provides the highest degree of services, resources and support to the SCAD community.

In this role, you will oversee circulation, building and physical resources, patron engagement and interlibrary loans and courses. Under the direction of the head librarian of user experience and technical systems you will foster a collaborative circulation team and partner across library departments, and throughout the university, in support of library outreach initiatives.

The ideal candidate demonstrates the ability to improve customer service and staff efficiency in a library, as well as the willingness to create user-friendly, student-centered library experiences.

Requirements:
− M.L.S. degree from an ALA-accredited institution
− Experience planning and implementing events, preferably in a library environment

Job Posting: Research and Instruction Librarian, SCAD, Atlanta GA

SCAD seeks a research and instruction librarian to join the ACA Library of SCAD in Atlanta.

In this role, you will assist students and faculty in the identification and usage of appropriate print and electronic library resources. This includes providing information literacy instruction, library orientations and research workshops, preparing print and electronic research guides and tutorials, and coordinating student-focused library outreach activities.

You will support the library’s online research services, participate in the selection of print and nonprint resources for all subject areas, and assist in staffing the reference and circulation desk. In addition to coordinating departmental policies and procedures, you will oversee all research- and instruction-related assessments and maintain reference and instruction service statistics. This role also requires participation in universitywide events, committees and initiatives.

The ideal candidate is familiar with traditional and electronic information resources and demonstrates working knowledge of effective search strategies and innovations in library instruction. You should be comfortable speaking to classes and large groups. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and social media tools is preferred.

Requirements:

− Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a subject discipline taught at SCAD

Job Posting: Collection Strategy Librarian, Savannah College of Art and Design, GA

SCAD seeks a talented collection strategy librarian to develop and maintain the print and digital resources students need to succeed.

In this role you will acquire, develop and maintain print materials for Savannah and Lacoste libraries as well as enable access to electronic resources that are shared across all SCAD locations.

In collaboration with library staff and academic departments, you will lead the ongoing assessment, maintenance and status of these collections. Working with the head librarians of Hong Kong, Atlanta and Savannah, you will assess campus and student needs and ensure resources are vetted, accessible and evaluated accordingly in terms of use, cost, currency and curricular relevance.

The ideal candidate has at least two years of library experience that includes electronic resources management, acquisitions and collection development in an academic library. A thorough understanding of online resources, including awareness of issues of vendors, packages, digital platforms, licensing, pricing models and financial and statistical management needs is crucial.

You should also have prior experience with licensing and negotiating contracts with library vendors and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively to achieve common goals, manage statistical data and generate reports.

– Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited program
– Excellent oral and written communication skills

Job Posting: Systems Librarian, Savannah College of Art and Design, GA

Join SCAD as a systems librarian and become an integral part of extending access to library resources and services to talented students.

In this role you will manage and coordinate the technology needs of all the SCAD libraries, including maintenance of the Millennium integrated library system, electronic resources and library website. You will also lead all projects and training efforts relating to library technology.

The ideal candidate has experience managing an integrated library system and working knowledge of Web 2.0 technologies and Web development tools, such as Adobe Creative Suite 5, HTML/CSS, XML, PHP and SQL. Thorough knowledge of existing and emerging library technologies is also essential.

Requirements:

  • ALA-accredited MLS degree
  • One year of experience working with Innovative Interfaces Millennium system or two plus years managing and maintaining another ILS system preferred
