Under general direction of the Chief Librarian, the Library Archivist appraises, acquires, accessions, arranges, describes, preserves, and makes available records (multi-format) of archival value; provides reference service to readers wishing to access the archival holdings and recommends policies and procedures for the use, storage and preservation of multi-format collections.
In support of digital collections, the incumbent works in collaboration with the Digital Scholarship Unit to determine workflows and approaches to digital collections development. Incumbent supports the development and maintenance of digital collections by describing physical resources, creating metadata for the digital assets (text, media, images, objects, etc.), and applying various metadata schemes and standards.
