We hope that you’re aware of the [FREE] joint ArLiSNAP/VREPS workshop in Seattle (http://arlisnavra2016.sched.org/event/4XK0/), where we’ll explore issues related to career development, including a resume and cover letter review session. We’ll discuss our experiences searching for and finding jobs, and we encourage you to discuss yours as well. There are still spots in the workshop, and we hope that you’ll come!

* Able to collect at least 3-5 photos during the conference
* Comfortable engaging with fellow conference-goers. Photos must be taken with consent (no candid pics) and include the photographed subject’s position/job title, type of library, and location.

The Southeast Chapter Travel Award is an excellent opportunity to help fund your conference travel.
Our best candidate will receive a $500 (USD) award to attend the joint ARLIS/NA and VRA conference in Seattle, WA on March 8-12, 2016.
PURPOSE
The purpose of this award is to cultivate a talented, dedicated, and educated group of professionals for the ARLIS/NA organization as well as the ARLIS/NA-SE chapter.
Funds from this award may be used to pay for travel, lodging, registration and meals associated with professional development activities at the annual ARLIS/NA conference.
ELIGIBILITY
Any individual meeting these criteria may apply for the award; however first-time attendees are given preference.

Wilson Foundation Research Award provides funds, up to $3,000, to be used in support of future and in-process research projects that contribute to and benefit the art librarianship and visual resources profession, and librarianship in general.The Worldwide Books Award for Publications and the Worldwide Books Award for Electronic Resources bestow cash prizes – up to $2,000 each – for outstanding print and online art publications that have been published within the past two years, 2014 or 2015. These publications may be in the form of a book, a website, an article, etc.So whether you need funding to support your research endeavors or you have completed a print or an online publication that you are proud of, the Research Awards Sub-Committee would be delighted to recognize your scholarly contributions to our profession! Paper proposals for the New Voices in the Profession session at the 2016 ARLIS/NA + VRA conference in Seattle are now being accepted!
New Voices in the Profession showcases exceptional academic work by students and new professionals (under 5 years post MLS). Paper topics should relate strongly to Art and/or Visual Resources Librarianship, but could also pertain to digital library projects, archives, library instruction, reference and the changing nature of libraries, among other topics. Paper topics that relate to the conference theme “Natural Connections” will be given special consideration.

Hello Fellow Art Librarians and Aspiring Art Librarians. I am currently the GlaxoSmithKline fellow for the reference library at the North Carolina Museum of Art through the end of next May. I graduated this past May (2015) with my MLIS from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. My undergraduate degree is in Business Administration with a double major in Art History from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC).
I have numerous experiences with a variety of cultural institutions. I worked at UNC’s Music Library for three years during my undergraduate and have volunteered at many locations including the High Point Museum, UNCG’s Special Collections and University Archives, and Greenhill, an art gallery in downtown Greensboro.
My interests in art librarianship lies with advocacy (especially for art museum libraries), making connections between libraries and the artist community, as well as encouraging art and artist professional development in other library spaces (such as academic and public libraries). I am looking forward to being the new Conference Planning Liaison because I feel there are a lot of interesting and valuable projects continuously going on across the country and the opportunity to share these ideas and gain feedback is paramount. I look forward to working with everyone and thank you for this opportunity!

The ARLIS/NA Texas-Mexico Chapter is pleased to announce the 2016 Lois Swan Jones Professional Development Award. This $750 award encourages active involvement of a member of the Texas-Mexico Chapter in the ARLIS/NA 44th Annual Conference held in Seattle, Washington, March 8-12th, 2016.
The LSJ award honors the memory of Lois Swan Jones, Professor Emerita of art history at the University of North Texas, by underwriting participation of members of the Texas-Mexico Chapter at the ARLIS/NA annual meeting. The award committee urges everyone with interest and need to apply, especially first-time conference attendees. To meet the primary requirement, applicants must lack full institutional funding. Previous winners are eligible. Applicant must be a member in good standing of both ARLIS/NA and ARLIS/Texas-Mexico.
A description of the award, application procedure, and a list of previous recipients can be found on the Chapter’s website.
The deadline for applications is Monday, December 28, 2015. The award committee will announce the winner on Monday, January 11, 2016. 2016 ARLIS/NA Wolfgang M. Freitag Internship Award
The Art Libraries Society of North America is now accepting applications for the 2016 Wolfgang M. Freitag Internship Award. The award grants $3000.00 to the selected recipient to support a 150 hour internship in an art library or visual resources collection.
The deadline for applications is December 4, 2015.
The Award will be announced and presented during convocation ceremonies at the ARLIS/NA + VRA 3rd Joint Conference in Seattle, Washington, in March 2016.
Who May Apply
This internship aims to represent the multifaceted nature of our field by providing internship opportunities to students currently enrolled in, or having completed within the last 12 months, a graduate program in library/information science, art history, architectural history, architecture, studio art, or museum studies. Applicants must have completed at least 10 credits of their graduate coursework before the application deadline.

VRA Travel Awards are available for attendance at the 2016 joint VRA/ARLIS conference in Seattle, Washington March 8-12. The list of recipients will be announced on the VRA listserv the week commencing December 7.

You do not need to be a member of the VRA to apply for a travel award, but please note that upon winning an award an applicant who is not a member of VRA must purchase a membership.
Please also note that award checks are distributed at the conference and as such, recipients will not have access to those funds ahead of the conference to set against travel expenses.
In order to allow funding to go further, Tansey awards will be distributed according to financial need i.e. full awards (up to $850) may be given to some, whilst lower amounts may be awarded to others with partial institutional/ other support. N.B. Travel Awards are only intended to assist people’s attendance at the conference, so you should be prepared to seek funding from elsewhere.
For 2016, we are fortunate to have generous financial support from sponsors and funds provided by the membership including:
* Two New Horizons awards of $850 each. These awards are aimed at members in the following categories: solo VR professionals, part-time VR professionals, geographically isolated VR professionals, VR professionals in smaller institutions, and/or first-time attendees
* A New Horizons student award of $300, for a full-time student enrolled in an accredited degree program and considering a career in visual resources
* Kathe Hicks Albrecht award of $850
* Tansey fund awards ranging from $250 to $850 each
