Please welcome our new Blog Editor, Melanie Zerah!

“…I have played an important role in the development, production, and manifestation of many book projects.”

Melanie

Hi there,

I am so pleased and excited to have joined ArLiSNAP as a volunteer Blog Editor. I believe working with ArLiSNAP will allow me to develop a keen sense of the true role of an art librarian in our society, as it pertains to the preservation and conservation of important cultural assets.

I am currently pursuing a MSLIS with a concentration in Museum Libraries and Archives at The Pratt Institute, and working as an Associate Editor for Springer Nature. As a literature enthusiast and passionate reader, my career at Springer Nature has enhanced my perspective of the written word, as I have played an important role in the development, production, and manifestation of many book projects. As someone who also deeply appreciates artwork of all mediums and modes, beginning the journey to combine my two passions through a master’s degree is my natural next step.

A born and raised New Yorker, I love spending time in Manhattan, specifically the West Village and the Lower East Side. I presently live in Queens, and have grown an attachment to my neighborhood for the past two years. Other than reading, in my free time I enjoy doing yoga, playing chess, playing guitar, and eating with my friends. My favorite book genres include historical fiction, biographies, and thrillers, and two of my many favorite classic art styles by movement include Dadaism and Surrealism.

With the combination of  my professional work, student work, and ArLiSNAP involvement, I am confident that the path to my dream career will become clear.

I look forward to working with you!

Melanie
