What You’d Do
Create positive experiences for library customers by performing professional library work including archival processing and digitization and reformatting of original archival materials. Arrange and describe archival collections and create online finding aids. Create digital files, and produce technical, administrative and archival metadata. Promote community outreach and programming. Communicate effectively about issues and initiatives with customers, coworkers, and administration. Assist in the development and maintenance of a special library collection requiring specialized handling, security, and subject expertise.You Have
Knowledge of the history of African Americans in the American West with emphasis on Denver and Colorado. Knowledge of print and electronic information retrieval. Ability to work with original archival records such as textual documents, photographs, maps and technical drawings, and historical artifacts and to reformat original archival records using digital imaging technology to produce image files. Ability to create administrative, technical, and descriptive metadata in accordance with archival and local standards and utilize a broad range of hardware and software applications for scanning, calibration, image processing, hardcopy output, and file storage/management in order to achieve a desired result. Ability to demonstrate positive attitude, excellent interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, and a sense of humor in working with customers, coworkers, and community. Ability to perform community outreach and programming. Ability to creatively problem-solve, negotiate, and handle stressful situations in a positive manner. Ability to demonstrate innovation and flexibility. Ability to pass a background check after the offer to hire has been made.
A Master’s in Library Science from an ALA accredited university.
One year of library or archival experience.
Experience with various library databases and management systems including ArchivesSpace, and CONTENTdm (preferred, not required).
Experience with archival preservation best practices and knowledge of various analog audio and visual media types (preferred, not required). Other Things You Should Know

Although the full salary range for this position is provided, offers are typically made within the starting salary range and depend on qualifications. This fully benefitted, limited term position is funded for 24 months once the selected candidate is in the position.
The schedule will be determined by the needs of the branch and may include evening and weekend hours.
