Job Opportunity: Film Archivist, Academy Museum of Motion Pictures

DESCRIPTIONThe Film Archivist works in the Archive Collections department under the guidance of the Collections Curator and the Film Traffic Manager. You will primarily be responsible for inspection, repair, inventory, and cataloging of Archive film, video and digital collections and related materials.Responsibilities:Research and document archive collections and database records.Inspect, inventory and catalog archival film, video and digital materials.Create and update records using the Archive’s Adlib database.Assist with new acquisitions, including occasional pickup and delivery of newly acquired collections.Work in the Archive’s temperature controlled vaults on collection maintenance and inventory projects.Work and communicate with Academy staff, Archive donors, Academy members, film industry professionals and outside organizations on collection-related activities. 
POSITION REQUIREMENTSDegree in archival film studies or equivalent preferred.Solid knowledge of film history and technology.Experience in the operation of film handling and editing equipment and film, video and digital viewing equipment.Experience with standard computer word processing and database software. Experience in using Adlib or similar media database preferred.Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with Academy staff, donors, laboratory personnel, Academy members, industry professionals, and visitors.Capability to lift at least 45 lbs. and retrieve items from shelves using ladders.Skill in reading and composing correspondence and reports.
