This position is conveniently located at our downtown office in the financial district of San Francisco. The Library Assistant works up to 20 hours each week during the fall, spring and summer semesters. This means you have time off between semesters to pursue personal endeavors!Academy of Art University Library Assistants provide public service to students, faculty and staff that utilize library resources for personal study and professional development. Daily responsibilities require the Library Assistant to provide support to patrons in-person and by phone, manage the operations of the circulation desk, address issues regarding patron’s fees, coding materials, establishing and updating patron’s records and checking materials in and out.Candidates who enjoy supporting others and working within a structured, well-organized environment are encouraged to apply. Additional qualifications include:
    • Must be able to work a flexible schedule. May be required to work at least one closing shift and/or one weekend shift.
    • Possess basic knowledge of library equipment, including computers (Mac and PC), scanners, copiers and printers and be able to troubleshoots issues. Must also be able to assist patrons with basic computer functions and programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Preview and Photoshop.
    • Possess knowledge of library practices and have prior professional experience within this environment. Completion or current enrollment in a library technician certificate program is preferred.
    • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to deliver quality customer service at all times.Benefits:Part-time employees are eligible for 401(k), paid sick leave and a commuter benefit program.
