Please join me in welcoming our new Chapter Liaison, Meg Milewski!
My name is Meg Milewski and I am so excited and honored to be one of ArLiSNAP’s two new Chapter Liaisons! I have been a follower/member of ArLiSNAP and ARLIS/NA since 2015 and I’m very happy to finally be an active contributor!
I graduated with my bachelor’s degree in Art History from the University of Michigan-Dearborn in 2014, followed by my MSI (Master of Science in Information) from the University of Michigan in 2018. From 2012 onward, I have been very fortunate to work at a number of museums and libraries: Detroit Institute of Arts, Toledo Museum of Art, National Gallery of Art (DC), and the University of Michigan Museum of Art, Ann Arbor District Library and the University of Michigan Library. A big part of my identity which also informs my modus operandi as a librarian/archivist is my status as a first generation college student from a blue collar family. I want a future where people like my parents can access scholarship, cultural heritage, archives, etc without a particular education or university affiliation.
Currently, I am a Description Project Assistant in the Special Collections Research Center at the University of Michigan Library. In my spare time I make art (jewelry, fiber arts) that I sometimes sell on Etsy, collect antique wax seals, take care of my pet rats (let me change your mind about them!), play video games with my Twitch streamer fiance, and consume an ungodly amount of podcasts.
I am very excited to be working with the rest of the ArLiSNAP volunteers and I look forward to getting to know everyone!
