Appointment: Interim, one-year full-time position anticipated to start summer of 2019 (July or August). The initial appointment will be full-time for one year, with the possibility of moving into a regular, ongoing role in summer of 2020.
Serves as a liaison with several arts and humanities departments, including art and art history, classics, theatre, African American Studies, and music. Supports teaching, learning, reference and research activities for faculty and students in these departments; participates in library outreach and engagement programs and assists with teaching associated with first year seminars. Participates in the development and management of digital projects associated with humanities departments. This position is part of a team of service oriented and collaborative librarians.
- Serve as the library’s liaison to departments in the arts and humanities disciplines. May serve as liaison to additional departments/programs depending on educational background and/or experience.
- Participate in developing and implementing innovative digital public service programs and projects.
- Contribute to a dynamic information literacy program, teaching effective information seeking and critical thinking skills; continuously working to improve teaching by assessing student learning outcomes and participating in professional development activities focused on pedagogy; conduct targeted and strategic outreach in order to integrate information literacy across arts and humanities curricula and build strong working relationships with faculty in liaison departments.
- Collaborate with faculty on digital humanities projects; strategically integrate digital and scholarly communication literacies into outreach activities and instructional programming and materials.
- Build and manage library curriculum-driven collections to meet the needs of students and faculty. Spend allocated collection development funds in a timely and responsible manner.
- Communicate information about library policies and promote library services to faculty and students. Communicate feedback internally.
- Create teaching and learning support materials such as tutorials and research guides and contribute to the overall web presence of the library.
- Provide reference and research assistance in traditional and digital environments.
- Participate in professional activities and departmental planning.
- Works with librarians, faculty and administrators to promote the integration of information literacy into the curriculum
- Works collaboratively with colleagues to provide innovative user-centered outreach services
- Serves as the library’s key contact associated with JSTOR Forum.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Assist in training and directing students in functions related to responsibilities.
Monitors learning materials budget for liaison departments and ensures timely spend out.
- Academic education or experience in the arts and humanities
- American Library Association accredited MLS or its equivalent
- Demonstrated team and project leadership skills.
- Experience or training in teaching or instructional activities.
- Strong interest in current and emerging information technologies and potential applications and opportunities for the library. Demonstrated ability to understand basic HTML or experience with Content Management Systems.
- Reference experience or training.
- Demonstrated capacity to work effectively and collegially with library staff, faculty and students.
- Ability to function effectively in an ambiguous and rapidly changing environment.
- Knowledge of web development and web technologies.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, time management, and communication skills.
- Strong commitment to excellence in public service.
- An understanding of and commitment to the educational objectives of the University and the ability to contribute significantly to the role of the Library in the educational process.

Compensation and Benefits: Decisions about starting salaries are made based on the extent and relatedness of the candidate’s education and experience and on internal equity and market considerations.
