Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago – Summer Internship (Unpaid, but stipends available)

The Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago is seeking candidates for our summer internship program in the museum’s Library and Archives. This position is unpaid however there are several stipends that applicants can apply for.

The library internship provides students with a well-rounded, hands-on learning experience that provides exposure to all aspects of art museum librarianship. Tasks may include: reference, circulation, cataloging, archival processing, and collection management. Library staff works to match interns with current projects that correspond to their areas of interest. Past projects have included working with artist files, audio/visual collections, and archival collections. The internship is designed for graduate students focusing on library science and/or archives, recent MLIS graduates, and advanced undergraduate students who are considering careers in library science. Library experience or classwork in library science or archives is strongly preferred. Knowledge of art is preferred but not required. The ability to work independently with a strong attention to detail is required. May include some heavy lifting.
