Background

The Frick Collection is an art museum consisting of more than 1,100 works of art from the thirteenth to the nineteenth century, displayed in the intimate surroundings of the former home of Henry Clay Frick. The residence, with its furnishings and works of art, has been open to the public since 1935. It is one of the world’s most perfect museums; its sister research institution the Frick Art Reference Library is of equal distinction.

Position Summary

Greet researchers; register first-time researchers; enter first-time researchers’ information in database; maintain researchers database; check researchers in and out of the Library; assist the Associate Librarian for Public Services with the retrieving, scanning, packing, and mailing of interlibrary loan materials; file researcher registration forms; perform other clerical tasks as needed; reports to the Chief of Public Services.

The Library is open Monday through Friday 10:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. and Saturdays, September through May, 9:30

a.m.–1:00 p.m. Business hours are 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Candidates must be available to

work at least 21 hours per week distributed evenly throughout the week, some Saturday hours are required.

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED. Experience working in an office setting, preferably as a receptionist or in a customer

service role. Computer literacy in a windows environment. Punctuality, attention to detail, teamwork, and

interpersonal skills are important. Previous library experience and familiarity with FileMaker software are desired,

but they are not essential.
