The Avery Architectural and Fine Arts Library seeks an industrious and motivated night and weekend Library Assistant IV, reporting to the Avery Access Supervisor. The incumbent:
— is responsible for operations at the Avery Service and Reserves Desk at regularly assigned times, including but not limited to: in-house CLIO circulation of Avery and Fine Arts materials using status patrons; CLIO circulation of Ware materials and materials from other campus libraries and ReCAP; CLIO circulation of reserve books; manual circulation of reserve periodicals and manual circulation of assorted materials (primarily to non-affiliates); creating on-the-fly records; processing holds and recalls; sorting and sending materials to other Columbia Library sites; maintaining Paw Print printers and routine scanner functionality.
— processes Interlibrary Loan (ILL) lending requests from other institutions and Electronic Document Delivery (EDD) requests for eligible Columbia affiliates. Duties include verifying/checking citations in multiple languages, pulling books for loan, and scanning of books and articles.
— acts as primary access services representative to the public during evening hours and handles patron directional and informational inquiries in-person, on the phone, and via email including direct patron assistance with scanners.
— closes library, including sweeping for patrons, turning off all applicable lights and appliances, and locking secured areas.
— submits mediated offsite requests from non-affiliates during evening/weekend hours, and processes incoming offsite materials as needed.
— assigns, revises and trains student workers for circulation tasks (CLIO in-house, CLIO reserves, CLIO general circulation), ILL and EDD tasks (pulling books from stacks, checking citations, scanning), and for stack maintenance duties (picking up, sorting, shelving, straightening, shelf-reading, shifting).
— maintains statistics for activities such as interlibrary lending, electronic document delivery.
— performs Reserves operation tasks, including but not limited to: verifying citations; searching CLIO; pulling materials from the stacks; creating flags and folders; linking materials for e-reserves.
— maintains Service Desk work space: including but not limited to sorting and shelving, shelf-reading, and shifting reserves stack, ensuring that office supplies and paperwork are stocked, and contacting Access Supervisor regarding supply needs.
— performs other duties, as assigned.

Semesters: Mon.- Thurs. 3-11pm; Sun. 2pm-10pm
Summer: Tues.- Thurs. 1-9pm; Fri. 9am-5pm; Sat. 11:30am-6pm
Intersession: Mon.- Fri. 9am-5pm

Position is responsible for closing Library on all scheduled days. Schedule subject to change to accommodate semester scheduling. Schedule subject to change if operationally necessary.
