Reports to: College Archivist
In order to increase diversity in the professions related to museums and the visual arts, the Getty is offering a summer internship in the Art Center College of Design Archives to undergraduate students of culturally diverse backgrounds.
Part of the College Library, the Archives collects, preserves, and makes available materials related to the history of ArtCenter. The collections include photographs documenting the College and students from the 1930s–present, department records, publications, audio, and video. During the course of the ten-week program, the intern will work in the Archives and gain hands-on experience with archival materials.
The internship is a full-time position of 35 hours per week, with a salary of $4,500 for a consecutive ten-week work period between June and August 2016.
The internship will introduce the student to the field of archives and the functions of an archives department. The intern will gain experience with archival processing, digitizing, preservation, access, and outreach through several small projects. The intern will be supervised by and work mainly with the College Archivist, and will also work with the Processing Archivist and Librarians. The internship is designed as an “Archives 101,” therefore an ideal candidate should have an interest in archives and library science.
