Collections Assistant

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Pack, unpack and move collections on and off-site
- Provide gallery and office maintenance
- Practice proper Collections Care and Handling procedures
- Assist in special projects, on and off-site
- Maintain storage areas and monitor environmental conditions
- Ensure exhibits are properly and safely packed and assist with transportation
- Maintaining a safe and orderly work space
- Assist in monitoring environmental conditions in exhibition and storage in two locations: main facility and off-site collections storage
- Assist the Manager, Collections and Artifact Care with other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Post secondary training and/or equivalent experience in Museums and Heritage Studies
- Be proficient with computer word processing and collection management database systems
- Be adaptable, flexible and function effectively in a team environment
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Be capable of taking initiative with a positive attitude
- Be able to set and achieve goals
- Accuracy and attention to detail essential
- Must be organized and have excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Passion for music essential
Collections Registrar

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assist in collections management activities such as collecting, numbering, cataloging, records management and research
- Coordinate shipping of artifacts from national and international lenders
- Prepare condition reports for incoming and out going loans
- Ensure appropriate care and handling of collections in two locations: main facility and off-site collections storage
- Coordinating external support in regards to crating, shipping, insurance, and customs
- Assist with installation of objects for new exhibitions displays
- Be proficient with computer word processing and collection management database systems
- Assist with writing of exhibitions display text
Qualifications
- Post-secondary training from a recognized Museum training program and/or equivalent combination of training and experience in Collections Management related activities
- Experience in managing object loans and shipping essential
- Must be organized and have excellent written and oral communication skills
- Accuracy and attention to detail essential
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and meet goals in a timely manner
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Positive, winning attitude. Energetic, driven, goal orientated
