The Canadian Lesbian and Gay Archives (CLGA) is the largest independent LGBTQ+ archives in the world. With a focus on Canadian content, the CLGA acquires, preserves and provides public access to information and archival materials in any medium.
We are seeking a motivated and personable individual for the position of part time Volunteer Coordinator. This is a 6 – month contract position of 10 hours per week with the possibility of a full time position, dependent on future funding.
The Volunteer Coordinator leads activities related to finding, deploying, coaching, supporting and problem-solving with both new and existing volunteers at the CLGA.
There are several key aspects to the VC role:
Strategic: working to help the CLGA attract and retain volunteers with the skills, knowledge, energy and motivation to help the organization achieve its objectives;
Operational: working with all Committee Chairs and program/event Leads to find and effectively utilize their required volunteers in a positive teamwork environment;
Administrative: tracking volunteers and applicants, keeping records, communicating with volunteers, and reporting on the volunteer situation;
Interpersonal: meeting with, following up with, coaching and problem-solving to maximize the organization’s volunteer strength.
The successful candidate for this position would need to:
Be comfortable with using the Internet and computers. Microsoft Office Suite
Have good people skills, with good verbal and written communication skills.
Have a flexible timetable to be able to respond to the needs of the job.
Related degree/diploma and/or similar experience in this field.
Students currently enrolled in a volunteer management course will be considered.
