As a member of the AUPE bargaining unit (Local 071/006), this is a temporary position. The starting range of pay is a full time equivalent salary of between $39,740 – $42,563, dependent upon skills, education and experience.

This temporary part-time role (24 hours/week) reports to the Associate Vice President, Instructional Affairs and will contribute to the College’s efficient and effective functioning of the Library by ensuring that print collections are maintained in good repair and order, and that circulation records are accurately maintained.
The Subject Specialist/Library Assistant provides faculty, staff and students with subject-related advice for effective access of library resources, and instruction in the use of library catalogues and systems.
Key components of the role will include:
- In accordance with established procedure, oversees circulation of the library collection, inclusive of books, periodicals, reference publications, electronic resources, films and videos.
- Provides subject related advice, assistance, and instruction to faculty and students with respect to referencing the library collections and in the accessing of information from catalogues, indexes, reference materials, databases, the internet and other sources.
- Provides support to students and faculty with regard to network access and computer queries, and troubleshoots and reports computer and network problems to the Computing and Technical Services department.
- Coordinates the collection and reproduction of repro-text course packs, and maintains and submits reports of print and online course reading materials to Access Copyright.
- Arranges for the external repair of damaged library material or executes repairs internally if appropriate. Laminates book jackets, and processes new and donated library material, inclusive of stamping, securing security strips, labels and barcode stickers.
- Contributes to the general efficiency and effectiveness of the Library as part of the library team and provides assistance and support to other library staff as required or assigned.
- BFA, BA or a suitable combination of education and experience, preferably with a minimum of two to three years’ experience in a library or collection management environment. Experience in a post-secondary institution, public gallery or museum is an asset.
- Demonstrated advanced competency with electronic information resources and general office systems.
