DEPARTMENT:  Paul J. Gutman Library
QUALIFICATIONS: The Paul J. Gutman Library of Philadelphia University is seeking a public services librarian with the following background or experience:

  • An understanding of the theory and practice of information literacy in an academic setting. Ability to engage faculty and encourage collaboration with librarians.
  • Familiarity with ILL procedures; especially Relais (EZ-Borrow) and ILLiad.
  • Good communication skills and multi-tasking abilities.
  • Leadership and proactivity.
  • Education or background in art, art history, or architecture strongly recommended
  • Knowledge of digital media, social media and LibGuides a plus.
EDUCATION REQUIRED: M.S. in Library and Information Science or an M.L.S.; must be from an ALA-accredited program
RESPONSIBILITIES: Handles a variety of public services roles including:  coordinating operations of the Reference Desk, interlibrary loan, and an electronic visual resources collection. Serves as faculty liaison to several disciplines, supporting the collection development, reference, and information literacy needs of those areas. Provides some support for the library’s website. Provides regular  reference service.
