Overview:

The New York Public Library seeks candidates for a two year Library Technical Assistant IV (Curatorial Fellow) temporary position in the Wallach Division of Art Prints, and Photographs.

Responsibilities:

The Library Technical Assistant IV (Curatorial Fellow) will be a fully integrated member of the Photography Collection, with an emphasis on processing and cataloging photographs and making them accessible to researchers in the Prints and Photographs Study Room and across Web-based platforms. The Library Technical Assistant IV will also provide general curatorial support to the Curator of Photography. Duties include:

Providing public service for the Collection.
*
Maintaining departmental accession files.
*
Responding to inquiries about the Collection.
*
Coordinating projects with Wallach Division and Collections Strategy staff and volunteers.
*
Assisting with exhibitions and loans.
*
Assisting with research and writing on Collection material and proposed acquisitions
*
Other related duties as required. Position includes benefits.

Qualifications:

*
Bachelor’s degree in the humanities.
*
Master’s degree in art history or related field or in the final stages of, or having recently completed, a PhD preferred.
*
Successfully demonstrated reading knowledge of at least one foreign language.
*
Successfully demonstrated commitment to scholarship in art history, preferably in the field of photography.
*
Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and an ability to work collaboratively with a positive outlook on a broad range of tasks.
*
Familiarity with computer cataloging of visual materials, preferably in TMS (The Museum System), preferred.
