Columbia College Chicago is an urban institution of over 12,500 undergraduate and graduate students, emphasizing arts, media, and communication in a liberal arts setting. We seek an energetic, motivated and team-oriented individual for the position of Outreach Librarian to assist with outreach, library marketing, events and fundraising initiatives in a highly active academic environment. The Outreach Librarian is responsible for establishing new and maintaining existing library relationships with constituents of the College, identifying methods of promoting the library through best practices, participating in long-range planning for marketing and outreach efforts, assisting with the administration of the Friends of the Library program and other fundraising initiatives. The incumbent will also work collaboratively with library staff to identify and apply for external funding sources in support of library endeavors such as digitization and preservation. Due to the nature of this position, some evening and weekend hours will be required.

To qualify, candidates must possess an MLS or MSLS from an ALA-accredited institution with a minimum of two years public services experience in an academic, special or public library.  Working knowledge of electronic databases such as EBSCOHost Academic Search Premier, Lexis-Nexis, Expanded Academic ASAP, etc. is required. The ability to work collaboratively, systematically and accurately to manage and prioritize multiple projects and deadlines is essential in this role. Preference will be given to candidates with experience and education in a combination of the following: grant proposal writing, grant implementation and evaluation, marketing and public relations.
