|THE ART INSTITUTE OF CHICAGO is seeking a candidate who will provide original and complex cataloging of monographs in all languages. Provide scheduled reference service. Catalog monographs for the Libraries’ collections using Library of Congress Classification, LC subject headings, Anglo-American Cataloging rules, OCLC and Millennium. Re-catalog and re-classify existing library materials as necessary. Catalog non-print formats, including CD-ROMs, DVDs, and archives. Catalog materials for Special Collections as assigned. Researches name forms and does authority work; contributes new records to NACO. Participate in formation of policy and procedures for Technical Services. Keep up to date with new and emerging descriptive practices and tools.
A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE a MSLS from an accredited library school; experience in special or museum library preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of integrated library systems and bibliographic utilities (Millennium, OCLC, etc.) and cataloging codes (AACR, LCSH, etc.) Bibliographic knowledge of relevant foreign languages (French, German, Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, Italian or others). Demonstrated knowledge of art/art history; advanced degree preferred.
