The Research Librarian – Humanities provides reference services, participates in collection development, and offers user education classes in appropriate disciplines.

Primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
– Providing in person and online reference assistance to faculty, students, and the general public, including some evening and weekend hours;
– Participating in collaborative management of Research Services;
– Collection development–bibliographer and liaison for disciplines in the humanities;
– Providing library instruction and orientation to the general population and focused user education in humanities disciplines.

REQUIREMENTS:
ALA accredited Master’s degree is required. Background in humanities is required.

Candidates must possess a strong public service orientation. Must also demonstrate strong verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills.

Candidates must demonstrate strong initiative with the ability to work with minimal supervision. Familiarity with high-level library and information technology specific databases and computer software is essential.

Experience in teaching methods and instructional design is strongly preferred. Appointment will be at the rank of Librarian I or II, depending upon qualifications and experience.
