DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
= The successful candidate will locate and acquire archival material including deeds, maps, plans, drawings, and photographs of park properties for staff and public.
= Properly catalog and store archival material in digital format or other appropriate preservation method.
= Research and create written history for HPARD and system parks.
= Create procedures for this process and for long term use.
= Provide reference and retrieval services for the general public.
= Provide information about the HPARD to interested groups.
= Serve as a department liaison and cultivate a relationship with the Houston Public Library to share information.
= Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Requires an ALA accredited Master’s degree in Library Science, History or a closely related field.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: One year of experience in archival processing, collecting or research, historical research, library systems or a closely related field is required.

MINIMUM LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: A valid Texas Driver’s License and compliance with the City of Houston policy on driving (AP 2-2).

PREFERENCES: None

WORKING CONDITIONS: This position occasionally requires stooping or bending. Occasional very light lifting, such as three or four reams of paper or books (up to 20 pounds or an equivalent weight) may be required.
