POSITION: Coordinator of Digital Initiatives
DUTIES: The Coordinator of Digital Initiatives provides leadership, coordination and implementation of digital library activities within the University of Oklahoma Libraries and, in collaboration with the University as a whole. This position will provide expertise in establishing best practices for building digital collections in various mediums, overseeing metadata creation for digital items, and developing and implementing short-term and long-term strategic plans for the digitization unit.
This position is governed by the university’s policies requiring research or creative achievement and professional services as outlined by the Faculty Handbook at http://www.ou.edu/provost/pronew/content/fhbmenu.html.
REQUIRED: ALA-accredited Masters degree in library or information science; demonstrated understanding of emerging standards in digital library systems and their application to digital repositories in an academic setting; familiarity with digitization workflow, metadata standards, digital archiving practices and preservation; ability to work in a collaborative environment; excellent written and verbal communication skills and organizational skills; evidence of planning and project management skills.
DESIRED: Experience with digitization hardware and software; experience with digital library standards and metadata schema, such as XML, SGML, TEI, EAD, and/or Dublin Core; knowledge of audio-visual production; experience in obtaining external funding; evidence of research or creative achievement; supervisory experience.
