If employee will be working a schedule other than Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm, specify hours and days to be worked Monday-Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm or 9:00 am – 6:00 pm with some flexibility. May work one evening weekly. Weekend work in rotation will be required. Travel between campuses is required.

Field of Study: Required: ALA accredited Master’s Degree in Library or Information Science.

Required: Bachelor’s or advanced degree in the Humanities with coursework in philosophy, religious studies, and/or classics.

MS Office Experience Required: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
Other Computer and Software Skills Required: Proficiency in electronic searching, including an integrated library system, the Internet and working knowledge of PC based applications.

= Successful practicum or other library reference and/or teaching experience.
= Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
= Experience with an integrated library system; working knowledge of PC-based applications.
= Demonstrated knowledge of print and online reference sources and databases.
= Strong service orientation and the ability to work collegially and productively with diverse groups.
= Ability to adapt to rapidly changing technologies and environments.
= Accuracy in all phases of duties performed.
= Ability to lift and move books, boxes or equipment weighing up to 40 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodations. Move book trucks weighing up to 100 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodations.

Other Skills Preferred
= Library reference experience at an academic institution.
= Reading knowledge of a foreign language.
= Experience in the development and presentation of library instruction in the use of electronic and traditional information resources.
= Knowledge of reference and information resources in all formats, especially in the humanities.
= Recent experience in performing instruction, reference, collection development and liaison activities in the humanities.
= Experience with the Voyager integrated library system.

Description of Job Duties
= Provide reference assistance, information and instruction to library clientele via the Reference Desk, telephone, online, and individual appointments.
= Provide classroom and individual instruction in the identification, retrieval, and evaluation of information.
= Develop print and online instructional materials and assist faculty in the planning of library assignments.
= Select and evaluate materials in all formats in support of humanities disciplines. Responsible for the management of funds in support of these disciplines. Act as liaison to academic departments in the humanities disciplines.
= Occasionally lift and move books, boxes or equipment weighing up to 40 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodations. Move book trucks weighing up to 100 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodations.
= Conduct special projects. Develop budget requests and assess strengths and weaknesses of the collection in assigned areas. Write reports.
= Serve on Library and University Committees and Task Forces. Attend appropriate conferences and training sessions in area of specialization. May represent UTSA at local, regional and national meetings. Perform additional duties as assigned.
