|The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Library seeks two innovative individuals to provide expertise and guidance in metadata schemas and standards and to assist in their implementation within the Library. The Metadata Librarian is responsible for helping plan and manage metadata production of digitization projects for the Illinois Harvest Project and other digital work for the University of Illinois Libraries. The Metadata Librarian is a faculty position reporting to the Head of Content Access Management (CAM).
] Required Qualifications: MLS from an ALA accredited graduate program; minimum of one year of experience working with metadata in a digital library environment; experience with one or more of these standards: Dublin Core, EAD, MODS, or VRA; experience with XML and XML technologies; knowledge of AACR, MARC, and national cataloging standards; knowledge of Dewey Decimal Classification, Library of Congress Classification and Library of Congress Subject Headings; demonstrated proficiency with MS Office applications; ability to multitask and prioritize, work independently and as a part of a team, have excellent written and oral communication skills, and work in a fast-paced varied work environment; and outstanding communication skills.
