California College of the Arts – VR/media librarian wanted
Position: The Media and Digital Assets Librarian serves the
information needs of students and faculty working in the media arts,
and assists users of digital art and design resources and related
technologies. The librarian oversees development and maintenance of
the media and visual resources collections and supervises staff in
these areas. Office on the San Francisco campus with presence at the
Oakland campus 3 or 4 days per month.
Qualifications: Previous work experience in a library, preferably
academic. MLS or equivalent; or advanced degree in a relevant subject
area. Knowledge of art and design history, contemporary trends, and
the sources of documentation, with special emphasis on media and
related genres. Demonstrable ability to be an expert ARTstor user,
along with an interest in image and/or audiovisual cataloging.
Familiarity with MS Office, Adobe Suite, iLife, and a database such
as Filemaker. Supervisory experience desirable. Knowledge about
photography and AV equipment also desirable.
Salary: $40-50,000 annually, depending on experience and
qualifications and includes a comprehensive benefits package.
