ARLIS-Ohio Valley Fall meeting

The ARLIS-OV Fall meeting will be held at the Cleveland Museum of Art in the Ingalls Library on Friday, November 3rd. We are looking forward to an exciting meeting as we introduce everyone to the newly completed Ingalls Library and Education areas in the renovated Breuer building, the first phase of a major renovation and expansion for the museum. I am including the agenda below, which begins with dinner on Thursday evening for anyone who would like to join us. I am also including, as attachments, the registration form, a listing of area accommodations if you would like to stay overnight, as well as a compilation of “things to do” in the area.

If you have questions or would like to receive a registration packet via US mail and have not yet received one, please contact me by phone or email at 216.707.2534 or hcarter@clevelandart.org, or Kay Downey at 216.707.2550 or kdowney@clevelandart.org

We look forward to seeing you in November!

What do you do with 450,000 slides you no longer have the physical storage space to house? Digitize them, of course! But THEN how do you store them? And how do you find them? And what do you call them?

Join us for a presentation focusing on the conversion of the Ingalls Library’s collection of 450,000 35mm slides to their 21st century format – the digital image collection. Some of the ideas and issues to be explored: Storing your digital images; standardizing your data and making sure you can find it again tomorrow; image management systems and the effective use of open source products; the need to acquaint staff and patrons with the new format, as well as a whole new array of services utilizing the new/old collection.
